Calling all poets and dreamers, wordsmiths and wanderers through the weird, welcome wilds of inflection, redirection, and flying off the beatboxing path. Do words light you up in cadences like music? Does the right combination of rhyme and rythym, lilting twist of tongue in unexpected reverie, be it in pain or in joy or with that ghostly magic where the mundane and frabjous entwine, meet you in a place and space nothing else can? Is poetry, to put it plainly, your thing?If poetry is one of the loves of your life, or you just like to get together with a bunch of like-minded fun and fabulous women, join us on Wednesday, May 8th at A Studio of Her Own for an evening of awe and irreverence, spoken word and the silence between them, not rhyming and rhyming verily, poetry loud and whispered, agony and ecstasy and everything in between.
Sign up at the door to read your own or a friend's original poetry, rap, or spoken word. Each round will select two random poets to read their work followed by a casual audience vote to determine a winner ? who will be invited to come up and make an impromptu acceptance speech.
Fun. Easygoing. Magical. Tea and coffee and maybe a little wine included.
