Women at Work: a Thames Discovery Programme event to uncover forgotten stories from the River Thames.
About this Event

Women at Work uses objects found in the river Thames to reveal the vital, yet forgotten, role women have played in London’s economic life across the past two thousand years.

This special Women's History Month event will include a pop-up exhibition, discussion panel and an opportunity to get creative. There will be plenty of time to chat and explore how even the smallest finds can tell big stories!

The event will take place at Time & Talents in Rotherhithe. The venue will open for the morning session at 10:00.

Venue address: The Old Mortuary, Saint Marychurch Street, London SE16 4JE

Morning session: Pop-up exhibition curated by mudlarks Anna Borzello, Monika Buttling-Smith and Malcolm Russell. Talks and panel discussion.

Panel (subject to confirmation): Anna Borzello, Monika Buttling-Smith, Judith Hazell, Marie-Louise Plum, Malcolm Russell, Fran Sibthorpe.

Afternoon session: Creative session led by mudlark and artist, Marie-Louise Plum. This session will be supported by Thames Discovery Programme volunteers, including the brilliant team behind our award-winning A Thames Lark.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided, but please do let us know of any dietary requirments in advance. If you have any further questions abou the day please email Claire ([email protected]).

Our Women's History Month event is part of the Thames Discovery Programme #RiverRecoveries project, thanks to National Lottery players through @HeritageFundUK, and the support of @HistoricEngland, @LondonPortAuth and The City of London Archaeological Trust (CoLAT).
