Women's Hike - Sunset Peak Trail

For this adventure, we will be hiking up to Sunset Peak in hopes to catch the sunrise. Considered a moderately challenging, this hike features stunning panoramic views as far as the ocean. This hike also features endless views of Mt Baldy and the surrounding mountains. Truly a stunning hike to be on.

In order to get to the Sunset Peak Trailhead, utilize Google Maps to take you to the location provided. There is very little parking (only a small pull off along Glendora Ridge Road), but this trail is rarely traveled, so there should be enough space regardless of the time we decide to hike! Just remember to bring your Forest Adventure Pass!

Once we park, we will follow the trail as we slowly ascend to the top of Sunset Peak. There are a couple junction points that we'll encounter during our hike, we can easily navigate these by choosing the direction that ascends. Around the 7 mile marker there will be a fork, both paths will take us to Sunset Peak. We will be taking the path that is a little longer but also the easier option since it does not require any scrambling, but will still give us panoramic views of the surrounding area. Once we've had our fill of the views – and our lunch – we'll head back down the same way we came until we reach the bottom of the canyon where we will conclude our journey.

This trail is a fire road frequently visited by hikers, trail runners and mountain bikers. It is an 7.2-mile "out and back" with roughly 1200 feet of elevation gain. It is rated moderate but don't worry, we will be hiking it nice and steady and will be taking a fair amount of breaks.

There are no reliable water sources on this trail as we will be ascending away from the valley, so please plan on carrying your entire days supply of water with you.

3. It may still be chilly this time of year. Please dress accordingly.
4. Bring warm clothing (jacket in case it gets chilly at the top).
5. Shoes with good traction
6. A light backpack to carry all your essentials
7. Sunscreen, sun hat, sunglasses
8. Headlamp
9. Positive Attitude!
