We have another exciting guest speaker! Dr. Lily Gutnik is an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Breast and Endocrine Surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Speaker Bio:
Dr. Lily Gutnik serves as Associate Vice Chair for Global Surgery, Assistant Program Director for Global Surgery in the General Surgery Residency Program, and faculty advisor for UAB’s chapter of Socially Responsible Surgery.
She specializes in breast disease and is committed to improving access to quality care for vulnerable and rural populations. Her research focuses on breast cancer in resource-limited settings, global surgery, health disparities, and financial toxicity. She currently leads projects in Africa and Alabama and was selected as a 2023 Young Leader in Global Cancer Control by UICC.
Dr. Gutnik is an Associate Member of the Association for Academic Surgery, serving on the Global Affairs Committee and sits on the boards of two international NGOs advancing breast cancer detection worldwide. She trained at NYU, Ben Gurion/Columbia, Harvard, the University of Utah, and Duke, and is a board-certified general surgeon.
