This group for women of all ages will bring together aspects of dance ritual, the sacred essence of Middle Eastern dance, and flow your creative energy outwards to express your vision for Spring. No dance or art experience is necessary. Move with awareness and mindful presence to connect to the present moment and with each other. Bring out the divine essence within you and enjoy a great body workout that will enhance & enliven your mind, body and spirit.
In this workshop we will use:
* Warming up and grounding ourselves.
* Circles, figure 8 and more from Middle Eastern Dance.
*Sacred ritual and creative visualisation exercises to
enhance our power, energy and creativity.
* Expressive movement where we tune in to the deeper rhythm
of our body and soul and dance and enjoy sharing with others.
*Warming down and deep relaxation.
*Time to express the shape and movement of our dance into creative form on paper with pastels and watercolour paints and share with each other.
Please wear comfortable clothing, bring a colourful scarf for your hips if you have one. Bring bottled water and a blanket and ensure you have eaten at least an hour before.
This workshop will lead into 4 further workshops for women on the four elements : earth, fire, water and air with dates yet to be announced.
FACILITATOR: Suraya Langston has worked in the field of creative arts therapies for 30 years in London and Dunedin. She taught Middle Eastern Dance in Dunedin and Balclutha for 20 years and has always enjoyed the sacred connection to women's divine feminine energy, creativity and ritual. Suraya has a Masters in Arts Therapy and is a Registered Arts Therapist in private practice in Dunedin.
