The event is hosted by Kirsty Davies-Chinnock, the managing director of Professional Polishing Services Ltd and Director and current Chair of The British Stainless Steel Association.

Confirmed Speakers are:

Charlotte Horobin Region Director – Midlands & East of England, Make UK

Charlotte will be exploring the road-map of women in the metals industry and manufacturing and how we can increase the gender balance.

Make UK is the largest voice supporting UK manufacturing, Charlotte’s role as Region Director is to engage Make UK’s members and assist them in advancing as a manufacturer by providing bespoke introductions, providing industry insight, attendance at events & networking, promoting their business and ensuring their views are heard. Another key part of her role is to engage with regional stakeholders ensuring manufacturers’ interests are represented to LEPs, the West Midlands Combined Authority, Midlands Engine and the Greater Cambridge Greater Peterborough Combined Authority. Charlotte is also a Trustee of the WMG Academy for Young Engineers, a Careers and Enterprise Advisor in Lincolnshire, a Board Member of the West Midlands Growth Company and is a Senior Industrial Fellow with The Advanced Services Group at Aston Business School.

She gained her undergraduate degree from The University of Leeds in Biomedical Science before completing her Masters at The University of Nottingham. Charlotte is currently studying to gain her IEMA Certificate in Environmental Management. Before joining Make UK (formerly EEF) in 2013, Charlotte worked in food manufacturing where she focused on business development and food safety management.

Kelly Ellis, The Mortgage Mom

Kelly will be talking all things money and how to be financially protected, both for you and your family.

Kelly is married with two children and lives in Birmingham.

She changed career from radio production into financial services in 2017 when she trained as a financial adviser with St James Place. After working in the corporate world she identified that there was a need in the market to help people navigate the complexities of buying their homes and protecting their income and so launched The Mortgage Mom in 2019. Her goal is to remove the pain points for her clients when dealing with life changing financial decisions and to make sure they have a professional on their side who is willing to translate the small print into easy to understand choices. This leaves her clients free to enjoy their new home and/or rest comfortable in the knowledge their family income is protected in an affordable way.

Stephanie Slade, Psynergie Consulting

Liz Burley, Burley Law

Menopause will effect all women, how can this be navigated in the workplace?

Liz began her career in Wolverhampton, training with a regional general practice law firm. She qualified as a solicitor in 1996 and went on to work for both large regional and international commercial law firms, defending employment claims on behalf of large corporations in hospitality, retail, automotive and drinks manufacturing and delivering training to clients. During her early career she regularly represented clients in tribunal hearings throughout the UK and handled some of the first claims for disability discrimination brought under the Disability Discrimination Act 1995.

Following a 10 year break Liz returned to legal practice in 2015. Today she works with her husband and together they lead a team of developing lawyers at Burley Law. The firm is known for its straightforward and personal approach and its commitment to inclusivity which was recognised in a nomination for a Diversity Award in 2022. Through their work across the thriving Birmingham tech and business innovation community the team have forged a reputation for collaboration and champions of emerging businesses.

Liz has collaborated on menopause awareness initiatives and has been featured on TV and local radio speaking on the importance of menopause policies in the workplace (ITV This Morning and BBC Radio WM). She is a passionate advocate of creating and supporting open conversations around women’s health at work, from menstruation to menopause and everything in between. She is also a strong supporter of initiatives that educate employers to value the skills and abilities that women bring to business at all stages of their working lives.

In her spare time Liz enjoys open water swimming and tap dancing!


There will also be panel discussion and time given to network during the day.

Registration opens at 9.30am with coffee and pastries.

The mid-morning break and mid-afternoon break are additional informal networking opportunities, both served with drinks and cookies or cakes.

Lunch will be a buffet with the opportunity to catch up or make new connections.

The day will finish with a drinks reception.
