About this Event

'Slow Dating' is an award-winning short film about an older woman trying speed dating which leads to a night with a charming stranger and a heartbreaking revelation about her husband. It stars Julie Collis (until recently a long-time Birkenhead resident) staring Julie Collis (until recently a long-time Birkenhead resident) who will join us at this showing.
'We Were Dangerous' launched to much acclaim at the recent New Zealand International Film Festival. Te Ao's Mare Haimona-Riki wrote:
"The story unfolds within Te Motu School for Incorrigible and Delinquent Girls, an institution on a remote island formerly inhabited by lepers. The harsh regime of the matron (played by Rima Te Wiata) contrasts sharply with the spirited rebellion of a trio of girls determined to escape their oppressive environment. Their journey is a testament to the indomitable spirit of youth and the pursuit of freedom."
