This FREE seminar explores the intersection of women and politics, highlighting the critical role women play in shaping the political landscape.
This event is designed for women who are interested in learning more about politics or are passionate about making a difference in the political sphere, whether you’re just starting to explore this path or are already on your journey. Our seminar offers an in-depth exploration of the critical role women play in shaping the political landscape.
You'll have the unique opportunity to hear from accomplished women who have broken barriers and made significant strides in various political arenas. From grassroots organizers to elected officials, our panelists will share their personal journeys, the challenges they've faced, and the strategies that have led to their success. Engage in dynamic discussions, ask the questions that matter to you, and become part of a community that supports and uplifts one another.
This seminar will provide not just knowledge but also the inspiration and tools you need to navigate and thrive in political spaces. Whether you're considering running for office, advocating for policy change, or simply want to understand the importance of women's representation in politics, this event is for you.

A land acknowledgement will be followed by an overview of the program, then an introduction to Anita Huberman, our keynote speaker and panel moderator.

Networking
To encourage participants to meet new women, we will facilitate the first half of the networking session, followed by organic networking.
Anita Huberman, Keynote & Moderator
Anita Huberman, Former CEO of the Surrey Board of Trade for 18 years, has led one of Canada’s top Boards of Trade, serving over 6,000 members. Recognized as a top leader in Vancouver, she’s an advocate for Surrey businesses, holds numerous awards, and serves on multiple national and regional councils.
Panel Speakers:
Councillor Linda Annis
I have been a proud resident of Surrey for the past 20 years. I am currently the Executive Director of Metro Vancouver Crime Stoppers and have held several senior marketing and communications roles in the corporate and not for profit sectors.
Councillor Teri Towner
Teri, an active Coquitlam City Councillor since 2014, is deeply committed to community service and leadership. She serves with a wide variety of organizations on numerous committees and boards, focusing on housing, accessibility and volunteerism across the Tri-Cities. She co-founded the Tri-Cities Friends of Refugees Task Group which has since evolved into the In Your Corner ReStart Support Society.
Rochelle Prasad
Rochelle is an Education Rights and Youth Engagement Activist who ran for Surrey City Councillor in 2022. She is the founder of SPARK Foundation, recognized as Canada’s top life education program for young people, and her work has earned recognition from prestigious institutions such as the United Nations and the Royal Family.
Laura Dupont
Laura, a two-term Port Coquitlam City Councillor, environmental advocate, and founding member of the Wondrous Tree Fellowship, has spent decades supporting local environmental groups. She is now running for a federal seat in Coquitlam–Port Coquitlam in the 2025 election, focusing on food security and climate action.
