Women in Hebron talk and workshop
About this Event
Join Women of Hebron, a Palestinian women's cooperative working to economically empower women and their families while preserving and passing on Palestinian cultural heritage and traditional crafts to future generations.
At the heart of their work is Tatreez, the traditional Palestinian art of embroidery. For generations, Palestinian women have used Tatreez to tell stories, express their identity and preserve their history. Its intricate patterns and motifs often reflect the villages, landscapes and communities from which women come.
For Palestinian women, embroidery is more than a craft – it is an act of cultural resistance. In the face of occupation, dispossession and displacement, Tatreez has become a powerful way of asserting Palestinian identity, preserving collective memory and keeping cultural traditions alive.
The event will begin with a talk by a member of the Women of Hebron cooperative, followed by a hands-on Tatreez workshop, offering participants an opportunity to learn about this rich tradition and try Palestinian embroidery for themselves.
We ask for donations on arrival, whatever you can afford, to support Women in Hebron's costs.
