About this Event

Join us in Edinburgh City Chambers or online to hear from experienced practitioners in Girls' & Women's Education in Malawi.
Mercy Moyo Sibande: The Mamie Martin Fund's Malawi Country Director will be there in-person to meet members and share her passion for supporting girls’ education and female empowerment. The Mamie Martin Fund provide money for school costs for girls who have gained a place at one of their partner schools in Malawi, but who cannot afford to pay. Mercy manages all of the Mamie Martin Fund’s work there.
Susan Dalgety: Advisor to the McConnell International Foundation and SMP Senior Vice Chair: Susan has decades of experience as a champion of the rights of women and girls in Malawi and Scotland. The McConnell International Foundation’sKeep Girls in School initiative supports 200 girls in rural Malawi to access four years of secondary education.
Lindsay Graham: Co-founder of the Soko Fund, its Secretary & Director. The Soko Fund supports women from disadvantaged backgrounds in Malawi to access university education. They work in partnership with secondary schools to encourage young women to consider going to university, provide scholarships and support graduates as they enter the labour market.
With women and girls in sub-Saharan Africa being amongst the most-impacted by international Aid cuts and girls’ education being a cornerstone of progress, join us for this important event.
