FREE ENTRANCEAfter a one year hiatus, the Wolfhound Jazz Festival is back! We are thrilled to have a solid line-up of both local and international jazz artists, who will bless us with their gift of amazing musicianship whilst in the warm embrace of the Wolfhound's walls. Without further ado, the line-up.
WEDNESDAY AUGUST 17TH
21:00 ALL-STAR JAM SESSION
We kick off the Wolfhound Jazz Festival with a jam session led by the most prominent national and international jazz talents. We would like to urge you to come out and join, might be a once in a lifetime opportunity!
THURSDAY AUGUST 18TH
21:00 SAMUELE GHEZZI/LINUS EPPINGER QUARTET: TRIBUTE TO MOSE ALLISON
You might know these fellas from their kick-ass band The Hi-Stakes, but this time they present a completely original project especially for the Wolfhound Jazz Festival. Except a tribute to one of the finest singers, pianists and songwriters of the 20th century, Mose Alisson. This will be epic. And perhaps there will be a little jam session after, you never know.
FRIDAY AUGUST 19TH
21:00 THEM PECKIN BOYS
Them Peckin’ Boys is a four-piece bluegrass/folk/country band from Haarlem.
The group consists of guitar, two banjos, bass guitar, and four singing band members performing fast rousing dance music to sensitive ballads and everything in between.
The band brings their own music but also (famous) covers, and guarantees for a fun night for everyone.
22:30 LAURA'S STANDARDS DELIGHT
Laura Dooge interprets the jazz songs of the Great American Songbook, with the analogue romance of the past, in the contemporary world. Dooge sings them in such a way that one almost forgets that they stem from 1930: we still have "a crush on you" and sometimes smoke too much "at the end of a love affair". Together with a fantastic band and special guest soloists, the jazz clubs where Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan used to perform come to life, in our own city. A cheerful, bright show full of virtuosity, brought to the present.
SATURDAY AUGUST 20TH
21:00 AMSTERDAM ORGAN TRIO
The Amsterdam Organ Trio brings a superb mix of Hammond organ, saxophone and drums. This new band wants only one thing; to give the audience the same feeling that the musicians, who have been close friends for years, experience when they play; a warm blanket of fun, friendship and magic. They do not play Amsterdam ’smartlappen', but they do play jazz with a link to Amsterdam and New York. Soon after their performance at the Wolfhound Jazz Festival, they will play in Harlem NYC.
Drummer Richard Lems has played with all the big names in the Dutch jazz world and beyond (from North Sea Jazz to Montreux). Robert Mollee (saxophone) also has an enormous record. He has played with Denise Jannah, Thijs van Leer, Tim Knol, Fay Claassen and others. A relative newcomer is organist Mark Woerde. Although his grandmother put him between the loudspeakers in a music shop at a very young age, he has only recently started performing as an organist. The trio is really looking forward to sharing their heartwarming jazz with the visitors of the Wolfhound Jazz Festival 2022.
22:30 JURRIAAN KURPERSHOEK TRIO
A relatively new face in the Haarlem jazz scene is Jurriaan Kurpershoek. Hailing from grunge, punk and rock, he now fully embraced jazz and fusion and is turning heads with his new trio. Except jazz rock fusion, high energy, a great way to round off the festival!
