Good Morning WNYGIS User Group Members,Our Spring 2026 Event this year will be at the Col. Francis G. Ward Pumping Station. This is a historically unique and important location in Buffalo's history! The Ward Pumping Station, Filtration Plant, and Water Intake are a City of Buffalo municipal waterworks complex designed in the Italian Renaissance style and built in stages from 1907 to 1926. Col. Francis G. Ward was the Commissioner of Public Works from 1900 to 1915 under whose leadership the core of the Buffalo waterworks was conceived and built. Citing his “unwearied zeal in the completion of a complete and adequate system for providing this city and inhabitants with an abundance of wholesome water,” the City named the station for Ward in 1915.
This event will begin with a tour and introduction to the facility followed by two great speakers and topics:
Water Asset Management in the City of Buffalo
Matt Adam - Asset Manager (Veolia North America)
A Career of GIS Applications Graham Hayes -
Senior Geospatial Consultant (GIS Resource Group)
After the event we are holding a Social Hour at the Mortalis Brewing Company (1250 Niagara St, Buffalo, NY 14213)
