About this Event
From September 2026, all new undergraduate students will have the opportunity to take part in a guaranteed professional placement experience as a core part of their course.
By embedding this activity, all students gain practical, real-world skills that will ensure they are graduate career ready and maximise their chances of success in securing graduate-level employment.
Our integrated approach will focus on developing the employability skills of our students, strengthening their profile as the future graduate workforce for local and national employers.
Why businesses should get involved:
- Business Impact: Students work on specific tasks or research with an organisation to deliver defined outcomes during their experience.
- Short Duration: Experience over a condensed period during term time meaning business resource is utilised effectively.
- Academic Structure: Always linked to coursework, assessments or professional development modules to provide structure and support for both students and employers.
- Skills Development: Provides an opportunity for industry to influence the development of key workplace skills like communication, teamwork, and problem-solving - as well as the opportunity to upskill their own staff with mentoring and supervisory roles.
- Future Talent and Workforce Planning: A key opportunity to build brand awareness, shape the next generation of your workforce and strengthen your position as an employer of choice for highly-skilled, multi-faceted graduates.
Professional placement opportunities may include employer placements, live industry projects or employer-designed assessments.
