It's spring cleanup time for your yard, your medicine cabinet, and your paint shelf! Join us for an open house celebration at WLSSD's Courtland Street facilities for a day of activities, learning, and specialized disposal events at each of WLSSD's Courtland Street Facilities.HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE FACILITY
-- Medicine Cabinet Cleanout: today only, bring your expired or unwanted medications to be safely and confidentially disposed of - for free! Bring prescriptions or over-the-counter medications in their original containers if possible (cross out or peel off personal information if desired) or sealed in a clear plastic bag labeled with the medication name. Businesses should contact the Clean Shop in advance of dropping off medications.
-- Plastic Film Recycling Showcase: Meet the NexTrex recycling program for shopping bags, zip-top bags, bubble wrap, and other film plastics! Test your plastic film knowledge, and take home a gift to help reduce your plastic film footprint.
-- Shop the Free Product Reuse Center for paint, stain, and other products to jump-start your spring home renovations.
-- HHW always accepts household paint, automotive fluids, chemicals, pesticides, fluorescent bulbs, and medical sharps for disposal at no cost.
YARD WASTE COMPOST SITE
-- Happy Opening Day! WLSSD's Yard Waste Compost Site officially opens for the season! Drop off your leaves and garden waste for free and brush, sod, logs, and dirt for a nominal fee.
-- Garden Green Compost Sale: Pick up fresh bagged or bulk Garden Green Compost to kickstart your garden dreams.
-- NEW Garden Green Merchandise: Show your love for the Northland's favorite locally-produced soil amendment with a t-shirt!
-- Take a 15 minute "behind-the-scenes" tour of our compost site and learn more about our process: 10am, 1pm, and 3pm (spots are limited, call 218-740-4784).
