What is the Stell Reception?
A time to gather with one another and celebrate another year of accomplishment of our members, and the furtherance of WLAM's mission of striving to secure the full and equal participation of women in the legal profession.
Why is it called the "Stell Reception?"
The late Judge Carolyn Stell embodied this mission of WLAM in all that she did. Judge Stell was the first female to be elected as a trial court Judge in Ingham County, where she served proudly for 18 years, until her retirement in 2000. Judge Stell's worldly life ended in 2019, but she left with us a legacy we are proud to continue by selecting one Stell Award winner and one Stell Scholarship winner each year.
