This event supports Girls on the Run, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering young girls through life-changing programs. A portion of the evening's proceeds will go directly to helping girls in our community gain confidence and skills to achieve their dreams. "It's a fantastic semester-long program for girls ages 8-10 that focuses on female empowerment. While they train for a 5k, the real goal is boosting confidence, body positivity, and forming strong female friendships. Each week, coaches follow a lesson plan covering topics like rejecting peer pressure, being an upstander (not a bystander), and media awareness. The girls participate in team-building exercises, run laps, and choose a community service project to complete together. This program helps them develop a positive self-image and empowers them during a vulnerable age. I wish something like this had existed when I was a kid." -Megan H
