The Windham World Affairs Council welcomes historian Ilan Pappé and neuroscientist and writer Yoav Litvin for a conversation about their new book, Wired to Steal: Zionism and the Shaping of the Western Mind.

Bringing history and behavioral neuroscience together, Pappé and Litvin ask how political movements can draw on fear, identity, and the human need to belong. With Zionism and Israel/Palestine as their central case, they examine how these forces can shape public attitudes toward dispossession and violence—and whether those patterns can be recognized and changed.

The discussion follows WWAC’s October program with Dr. Ayman Nijim on genocide and collective trauma. Together, the two events invite audiences to consider both the human consequences of mass violence and the historical, political, and psychological systems that can sustain it.

Pappé is a professor at the University of Exeter, director of its European Centre for Palestine Studies, and the author of more than twenty books. Litvin is a neuroscientist, writer, and researcher whose work has focused on the neuroscience of emotion. The program will include an opportunity for audience questions.

Presented by the Windham World Affairs Council as part of its ongoing commitment to fostering informed public dialogue about critical global issues.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The program begins at 7:00 p.m.
