Winterfat Reading Room Berlin: in honor of June Jordan

An evening of spoken word poetry, honoring the poetics and teachings of the late, revolutionary poet June Jordan.

Winterfat Presse (Berlin) presents an evening of spoken word poetry, inspired by the late June Jordan's teachings and poetics.

Jordan's work is woven with immediacy and truth telling, often to an insurrectionary level— asking us to imagine new possibilities, even while speaking of the malevolence in our world. To believe that joy is possible while alchemizing the empires that surround us is a feat to be honored and amplified.

The evening will feature selected readers, followed by an open mic, and surrounds the prompt: "Write a poem about something that feels inherently terrifying, and transform it." All participants are invited to write something new, bring something related, or just show up. All are welcome!
