About this Event
This event is open to Black people of all ages and their loved ones
Hummingbird Urban Farming Collective events are always grounded in celebrating Black farming, Black connection to land and Black joy.
Together we will:
- Enjoy a beautiful winter solstice walk
- Build community
- Explore the plants growing around us
About the Winter Solstice:
The Winter Solstice is the shortest day and longest night of the year. It is also the first day of Winter. For many cultures, Winter Solstice marks an important shift in the agricultural cycle. In Burkina Faso, this time not only marks an end to the harvest season but also marks a time for feasting and honoring ancestors.
