A Winter Solstice Celebration
Saturday December 20th 7-9pm
Celebrate the Winter Solstice like our Scottish Ancestors did! The Ceilidh (pronounced kay lee) is a gathering of community, essential to maintaining the fabric of community through the cold & dark winter nights.
Scottish people would gather & tell stories, light fires & drink to keep their spirits up as the sun appeared to fade from existence & be reborn at the solstice. This was a time of power for faeries & trolls. Great fires would be lit to keep them away. The kinder spirits, the Brownies, would receive good offerings. Of course, with veils thinning at this time of power, the Dead could be conversed with.
Of course, it wouldn't be a Ceilidh without plenty of music & some dancing, so put on your plaid, & brush up on your Scottish brogue & come celebrate this time of hope and renewal!
