About this Event
Taking shears to your garden can feel intimidating, but proper pruning is essential for maintaining healthy, thriving plants. Winter is the ideal time to prune, as plants are dormant and better able to recover and reinvigorate themselves in spring. In this beginner-friendly workshop, you’ll gain the confidence and skills needed to prune safely and effectively in your own garden.
Join certified arborist and avid gardener Rosina Mak for this 3-hour hands-on Winter Pruning Workshop, where she will guide you through the basics of pruning, including:
- Examining pruning objectives
- Understanding basic plant biology
- Exploring different types of pruning cuts
- Learning how to select proper tools
- Caring for and maintaining your pruning tools
We will begin indoors with a slide presentation to cover the foundational concepts. Then we’ll head outdoors for hands-on practice, so please dress for the weather and wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little dirty.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll feel confident tackling pruning in your own backyard and prepared to care for your trees and shrubs with purpose. There will also be time for questions, so feel free to bring along any tree- or garden-related queries you may have.
Absolutely no experience is required.Participants are encouraged to bring a beverage and a snack or bag lunch.
Park at 1680-168th Avenue.
