About this Event

Oktoberfest is yearly family celebration, rich in Bavarian history. For those who have never attended an Oktoberfest before, here are some highlights to enlighten and educate:

· Oktoberfest originated in celebration of the marriage of the future King Ludwig, on October 12, 1810, including horse racing, hunting and fireworks!

· By the end of the 1800's, the carnival aspect of Oktoberfest was added to attract families, and horse racing, and hunting eventually ceased to exist, being replaced by the merry go round, an even trade!

· Oktoberfest is a celebration of old-world German culture, family gathering, friends, craft beer, German food, arts, crafts, dance, and polka music! Got polka?

· Traditionally, guests are not permitted to drink until the Mayor symbolically opens the first keg of the harvest season. At the opening of the event, the Mayor starts tapping, so he/she can shout the famous “Ozapft is”, “it is tapped”, and shares some personal greetings for the event. Subsequently, twelve beats announce the official opening to all other tents, so they can start tapping too, while regional flags parade around to the music of both the US and German national anthems!

This culturally based family friendly event will include the following items:

· Food trucks, local restaurant vendors, and local breweries,

· Local artists and Oktoberfest vendors,

· A "Beer Garden" with rows of long tables, under tents for families and patrons to sit, eat, drink, and relax.

· Tents will be decorated in the German Oktoberfest tradition.

· We will also provide a "VIP" tent for the ultimate Biergarten experience, with every need catered to by designated wait staff and prime stage viewing for music and dance. $175pp, will be all-inclusive; gate entry, food, drink, a souvenir mug, table service, and prime viewing of the music and entertainment.

· Games and events will include a Dachshund Dash, Sauerkraut eating, yodeling, and duck dance throughout the event!

· Foor trucks any vendors will sell merchandise and food menu items.

· LIVE music and entertainment provided by The Brussels German Polka Band, and The Schuhplattler Dancers.
