Winter botanical casting workshop. Sunday 22nd November, 11am to 1pm. £45

Discover the art of botanical casting in this hands-on winter workshop. Learn how to create beautiful seasonal designs to either frame, hang on the wall or on your Christmas tree. We will be using foraged foliage and flowers from the garden or surrounding area. You are more than welcome to bring your own leaves or flowers to cast to make it a really personal experience! Plants with interesting details and deeply textured foliage make the best casts. You will be given step by step tuition, from how to find specimens, preparing your clay and plaster and pouring your cast. The best bit will be the big reveal at the end! There will be a short intermission while the plaster sets, when you will enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, and Gail will show you examples of alternative finishes to the beautiful white that you will be taking home.

What you make will be dependent on the sizes of mould you pick to use on your piece of clay, we will be making hanging decoration sized moulds but if you want you can make a bigger one which we will show you how to do but you will use more clay up so you will take home fewer individual pieces. If you pick the smaller size you will get around 6 to 8.

Whilst mixing the plaster you will need to wear a mask for protection (supplied for you, or bring your own dust mask).
