About this Event
Hi! My name is Elaina Burt. I am the proud founder of Charlie’s Chance and Miss Jefferson County’s Outstanding Teen! I’m so excited to join together for a magically special night at the1st Annual Wings of Hope Gala Dinner at the Southern Museum of Flight benefiting the Epilepsy Foundation of America. Join me for a fun-filled night including dinner, live music, special guests, and a silent auction! Cocktail Attire requested.
I’d like to introduce you to my little cousin, Charlie Mae. Charlie is the inspiration behind Charlie’s Chance and is one very special little girl! You see, Charlie was diagnosed with a rare form of epilepsy when she was only a few months old and proves every single day that she is an overcomer!
Did you know that over 50 million people worldwide suffer from epilepsy? Furthermore, 1 in 10 people will suffer from a seizure at some point during their lifetime and 1 in 26 will develop full epilepsy (1 or more seizures). Epilepsy is not rare! There are more than twice as many people with epilepsy in the US as the number of people with cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis and cystic fibrosis combined! What does 1 in 10 look like for you?
Charlie’s Chance was founded with three main goals…to EDUCATE the public on the facts of epilepsy, to ADVOCATE for patients suffering with epilepsy, and to channel FUNDRAISING to enrich the lives of epilepsy patients. Partner with me as we fight to Overcome Epilepsy Together!
