Wine Tasting with Fairsing Vineyard

Join us at the museum for an afternoon of community and celebration! Two wine tastings, donated by Fairsing and Utopia Vineyards, come with your ticket. Purchase a glass or take home a bottle, with all proceeds donated to the musuem!

The afternoon will feature guest speakers Meara McNally Butler from Fairsing Vineyard and Michael Alberty, writer for the Oregonian and wine enthusiast, to reflect on The Oak Accords and all the ways that vineyards are undertaking responsibility for oak stewardship.

Entry also includes complimentary admission to our Replenish the Root exhibition to explore the rich history and ecology of Oregon white oak more deeply.

Guest Speakers:

Meara McNally Butler is the General Manager at Fairsing Vineyard, a family-run and sustainability-focused vineyard. Her background is in Geographic Information Systems and Anthropology. Meara works closely with her parents, the proprietors of Fairsing Vineyard. Fairsing strives to act as a good steward of the land with respect for the stewards who came before and practices that can sustain it into the future. Fairsing’s sustainability focuses include reforestation, soil health, and pollinator habitat.

Michael Alberty writes about wine for The Oregonian, the oldest continuously published newspaper on the U.S. west coast. He turned to wine writing after 16 years in the retail wine trenches of Illinois and Oregon. He has written about wine for publications based in England, Australia and the United States. He has also published work in the fields of international environmental politics and major league baseball. Earlier in his life he tended bar in Portland, pulled espresso shots in Seattle and made sandwiches with a famous bluegrass banjo player in Champaign-Urbana.
