Wine Tasting w/ Winemaker Carlos Raposo

Winemaker Carlos Raposo has quite a story. A hell-raising teenager, his parents shipped him off to winemaking school the way many send their kids to military school. But he took to it naturally – earning all kinds of prestigious positions which culminated in the job of making all of the dry wines for Nieeport, perhaps the most important dry winemaking position in Portugal. (His interview included a blind tasting of Rousseau, Raveneau and DRC!).

But he left this to pursue his own dream of making the best wines of the Dao.

We think he has really nailed it!

Raposo himself will be here on Friday, April 26th, from 5:00 to 7:00, to present red and white versions of his Impecaval label which are single-varietal bottlings highlighting what he calls the queens of red and white winemaking grapes in the Dão, Touriga Nacional and Encruzado. We will also taste the top-rated Tinto and Branco from his Ideal label which again feature Touriga Nacional and Encruzado, but this time in concert with other typical grapes of the region.

This will be a casual, drop-in tasting. Ticket-holders are welcome to come any time between 5 and 6:30 PM to meet Raposo and taste the wines on offer.
