Steven D. Brown was a professional Chef and is now a Sommelier, Wine Consultant, and owner of The Winesourcer.
Originally based in the Washington D.C./Baltimore/Northern Virginia area, Steven now calls Seattle and Lummi Island home and continues to impact the food and wine scene.
He has won many awards from the Wine Spectator for wine lists and wine programs that he has managed and designed. Steven is also one of ten Sommeliers chosen to present at The Robert Parker 100 Point Fund for Philanthropy dinner.
His programs have also garnered praise in Food and Wine and Bon Appetit. Steven has served as manager and consultant to premier restaurants, fine wine and gourmet shops. Steven has been a driving force in the support of education, sales and the promotion of fine food and wine. Steven is also a pending member of the Confrerie de la Chaines de Rotisseures Seattle Bailliage.
Steven is a member of the Society of Wine Educators and served as the society’s Regional Membership Chair for the states of MD, VA, DE, WV, PA, and Washington, DC. He is currently pursuing the coveted titles of Certified Wine Educator and has been certified as a Sommelier by the Court of Master Sommeliers and is in pursuit of Master Sommelier status. He has taught wine history in the Seattle College wine program.
Steven is currently the moderator for one of Seattle’s oldest CMS focused wine tasting groups, The Flights of the Round Table. He has held this position for the last 3 years.
He is frequently asked to speak about and present wines, and to lead seminars at charitable functions, trade conventions, alumni gatherings, and corporate events.
