Vineyards were planted in New York as early as 1810 and today, New York State is the third-largest producer of grapes in the United States, with 200 million bottles of wine produced a year.
Before Prohibition, New York surpassed every State except California for the total quantity of wine produced. New York State concentrated on bulk wine after Prohibition, but we saw a great growth of boutique wineries in New York after WWII, and today New York State has more than 470 wineries (250 of which were founded in the past 10 years). The Finger Lakes are the crown jewel of the state, and we will be concentrating on this great Region -
