About this Event

Embark on an exploration of the journey from grapevine to wine at "Wine: From Soil to Glass," in our "Ecosystem of the Vineyard" series. This is one of our Cellar Events we host at Proteus monthly. Taking place against the picturesque backdrop of Proteus Wines estate, we’ll delve into the rich ecosystems that nurture this process.

Guided by Bill Snyder, Proteus winemaker and college winemaking instructor, this casual class offers an insider's perspective into the holistic conditions and decisions that shape the winemaking process. From the delicate balance of soil nutrients to the symbiotic relationships within the vineyard ecosystem, Bill will illuminate the web of life that takes the grapevine from bud to bottle.

But the journey doesn't end there. Join us as we delve into the microbial ecosystem of wine, exploring the role of yeast and other microorganisms in fermentation and flavor development. Through Bill’s expertise, paired with wines from Proteus estate you'll gain a deeper understanding of the unseen forces that shape the character and complexity of each vintage.

Join us at 2pm on Saturday, May 18th and kick off your weekend with us for an afternoon of learning and sipping as we explore the hidden connections that make every glass of wine a testament to the beauty of the natural world.
