Native to the steep cool hillsides of the Northern Rhône Valley, the Syrah grape makes some of the most prestigious and elegant red wines in the world. The popularity of these French wines has led to many winemakers in the New World planting Syrah in varying climates and soils, resulting in a huge range of Syrah. The Syrah wines coming out of Australia are so rich and meaty, they are their own beasts, called Shiraz!
