About this Event

Control of their famous wine production has been motivation for many wartime movements, and vineyards across France have been battlefields. Winemakers have been vital during wartime, often leading resistance movements, feeding and housing soldiers, or using their influence to sway enemy commanders. The destruction from major wars has also led to legislation and modernization of wine regions across France as grape growers and winemakers are forced to rebuild. Ultimately, a study on French wine would be incomplete without studying French wars, and a study on French wars would be incomplete without studying French wine.
