Wine tasting isn’t about memorizing notes or using fancy language—it’s about understanding what’s actually happening in the glass. In this Wine 101 class, we’ll break down how professionals taste wine and give you the tools to do the same, whether you’re brand new to wine or already deep into the hobby.

Together, we’ll explore the five core structural elements that define every wine: acidity, tannin, alcohol, sweetness, and body. You’ll learn how to identify each one, how they interact, and why balance matters more than any single flavor note. This framework will help you confidently evaluate any wine—at a tasting, at a restaurant, or at home with friends.

We’ll taste a curated lineup of six wines chosen specifically to highlight these elements, using side-by-side comparisons and guided discussion to train your palate in real time. Along the way, we’ll connect structure to style, grape variety, and winemaking choices, giving you practical insight that goes far beyond “red vs. white” or “old world vs. new.”

This class is designed to be welcoming and accessible, but it’s not basic. If you already love wine and want to more fully understand your own palate and tastes, this class is for you. If you’re just getting started and want a foundation that actually sticks, this class is for you too!

REFUND POLICY

The Royce will offer a full refund (excluding Eventbrite fees) up to seven days or more in advance of the class date. No other exceptions will be made for refund requests. Tickets can be transferred. CANCELLATION POLICY

The Royce reserves the right to cancel an event in the event of a catastrophe or should reservations remain below the cost necessary to host the event. When you register for a class, you agree to these terms. The Royce commits to notify attendees ASAP and refund the full ticket price to the original payment method through Eventbrite.
