About this Event

The pair will discuss Alex’s life, migration and reflections on the Caribbean and Britain, as we commemorate the 75th anniversary of the arrival of the ship HMT Empire Windrush at Tilbury Docks on 22 June 1948 bringing more than 800 passengers from the Caribbean.

Alex Pascall is a living legend. Born in Grenada, he arrived in England in the 1950s, hosted Black Londoners – the ground-breaking first black daily radio show on BBC Radio London for 14 years where he interviewed stars such as Bob Marley, Angela Davis and Muhammad Ali, co-founded the Voice – Britain’s first national black newspaper, and ran the Notting Hill carnival.
