Come and learn how to make a round willow frame basket on this one day workshop, perfect for a ‘foraging’ or small shopping basket. Suitable for complete beginners or those with some weaving experience, you will learn the basics of frame basketry. You will learn how to split willow, prepare the frame of the basket and how to add the ‘ribs’. You will then spend the afternoon filling in the frame using a basic weave. Although it does require quite a good level of hand strength and dexterity, the process of weaving can be extremely mindful, as you watch your basket progress throughout the day.
The day starts at 9:30 and we will work until your basket is completed, usually at around 5:00.
We will share a simple vegetarian lunch and the joy of learning new skills and creating something beautiful and functional in a like-minded group!
Working with willow does require a certain level of strength and dexterity in the hands. Come prepared to work hard and you will be so proud of what you can achieve in a day!
