Willie F. Jackson, Sr, Annual Ditch the Weight and Guns 5K walk &run

Willie F. Jackson affectionally known as Bubba Slob or Honda had his life suddenly taken due to gun violence on October 23rd,2021, by someone he cherished as a son. He was given the name Honda because he was known as one of the fastest track stars at William M. Raines High school in Jacksonville Florida.

The race will highlight our communities' need for better fitness and nutrition.



An unquestionable correlation exists between poor food choices and poor health outcomes in communities across the city of Jacksonville. Lack of fresh fruits and vegetables, inadequate medical resources, and education are just a few of the social disorganizations. Team Harris Foundation hosts "Ditch the Weight and Guns 5K Walk/Run " to offer a peaceful wellness event while providing nutrition and fitness awareness within Jacksonville.

This is a fun, friendly family event for all runners and walkers. This event will be filled with fun festivities for the entire family such as line dancing, and other fun-filled festivities. There will also be music, vendors, and healthcare providers.

Freddie had a heart for the children; especially his own. Throughout the years, his love for the children grew throughout the community. He would reward them with field trips and provide financial and emotional support. We will be continuing his legacy by donating the proceeds to address the financial and emotional support of youth in the city. This year the proceeds will benefit properties under Millennia Housing Management in Jacksonville, Fl. (Valencia Way, The Weldon, and Palmetto Glen). Amazing properties that provide housing and resources to empower families through physical, mental, financial, mentorship, and spiritual well-being.

REGISTRATION will run from March 6th to June 6th,2023. Each participant will need to REGISTER VIA EVENTBRITE and PAY a $20 REGISTRATION FEE VIA EVENTBRITE, CASH APP @ ($WillieJackson5k), or (PayPal. me/Willie5k).

FYI- Each participant can pick up their bag and sign their race waiver the DAY of the event @ 8:00 am, stretch @ 8:45 am, and the race starts promptly @ 9:00 am.
