Sunday June 7th at Adventure Brewing 1-3 PM William Edward Stone will be showcasing his photography. From the Artist:
I’ve been shooting photographs… well, forever. My first camera was a pocket-sized Kodak instamatic cassette camera (and I still have the first photo I made with it!) When my dad let me use his 1950’s Agfa Karat 35, I thought I’d gone the heaven. I have graduated through a lot of cameras films and formats – and yes, digitals – but am still enjoying the magic of it all.
I grew up in the small town of Ashland, Virginia, and though I’ve lived a lot of places since, it’s still really home. But I’ve known Fredericksburg for most of my life, too (Allman’s Barbecue was still relatively new then) and it’s home now, too.
Most of my photography now is featured in advertising and travel or events. My work has been featured at galleries and exhibitions. I’ve been featured at galleries and exhibition regionally and
internationally.
I’ve been featured at galleries and exhibition regionally and internationally. For myself I would prefer to be documenting the life and people around me; at heart I remain a documentary photographer. I plan on doing more of that again
For myself I prefer to us analog (aka “real”) cameras and I use a variety of ages and formats. My favorites are from the 1920s – 1950s and in medium – large formats using black & white film. I process my own negatives and print nearly all my images. I’m limited by space to 8x10”, so if someone wants I larger print, I work with a small graphics company that allows me to oversee the production of the end product, still resulting in a one-of-a kind result.
I love trains – growing up in a railroad town will do that and enjoy being able to hear them still out my back window. Sailing and the sea is also a passion (I once worked on wooden ships) and you will see that reflected in my work.
