For his debut album, William Barrett returns to roots of jazz: a vibrant live experience. After writing all eight pieces, he brought his band to small iconic Amsterdam cafés, where the music truly started to come alive. They later captured that same energy during live sessions at Theater De Roode Bioscoop, resulting in 'Live in Amsterdam'. Up close, the band delivers an intense and unpredictable set, constantly pushing each other in the moment. With driving sax lines, fast-moving drums, sharp guitar work, and a bass at the center, the sound recalls John Coltrane and Pharoah Sanders. The musicians of the William Barrett Band are a familiar presence on Dutch jazz stages and festivals. With this r, they leave their mark on 21st-century Dutch jazz. On June 12, DOX Records releases Live in Amsterdam by the William Barrett Band. The album will be available in a highly limited vinyl edition and on all streaming platforms.
