About this Event
The London School of Architecture (LSA) has brought together some of the leading practitioners in the growing field of architectural reuse to explore the concept of "Deep Re-Use".
"Deep Re-Use" attempts to understand what meanings arise from reusing building components beyond the ecological imperative and practical necessity.
The speakers will confront questions like: What does architecture look like when professionals and the public intimately understand the elements that make up their buildings? How does architecture change when its constituent parts are treated as specific objects rather than generic commodities? How will the way we value materials change if we move beyond hierarchal historical concepts of material heritage? – will we still want things when they’re nothing new?
Ruth Lang - Chair (LSA, author “Building for Change”)
Nana Biamah-Ofosu (YAA, LSA Fellow)
Cristina Montiero (DK-CM, Harrow Arts Centre)
Eddie Blake (Studio Weave, co-author “Deep Re-Use”)

The article "Deep Re-Use" appears in the open-source publication "The Pedagogies of Re-Use", link to the free download here.
