Mohtarma Will You Marry Me is based on Anthon Chekhov’s acclaimed One Act Play - The Proposal. Its a comedic play that revolves around a marriage proposal gone awry. The story is set in India and follows the character of Shamshad Ali Khan alias Majnu, a landowner, who visits his neighbor Laila Kapoor intending to propose marriage to her through her son Tusshar alias Tissue. However, the conversation quickly devolves into a series of misunderstandings and arguments over trivial matters, such as land ownership and their favorite Bollywood actors. Despite their initial intentions, Majnu Khan and Laila Kapoor end up in a heated dispute, with Khan eventually collapsing from stress. The play humorously portrays the absurdities of human interactions and the comedic chaos that ensues when trivial matters escalate into major conflicts.
