Presenters:
Barry Brennan is the President and founder of Flying Lion, Inc. (FLI), a full service sUAS Solutions Company. As President, Barry manages all aspects that contribute to FLI’s continuous pursuit of excellence. He credits his leadership successes to a variety of professional experiences coupled with a focus on continued personal development.
Barry founded FLI to provide sUAVs and sUASs for public safety and law enforcement agencies. This new and unique service offering involves providing an on-demand, training, equipment and consulting services to help public safety agencies significantly improve their productivity in a variety of their daily activities where a helicopter could be utilized, but at a significantly higher expense and/or delayed response.
A core tenet has been looking at situations in a new way, and utilizing leading edge technology to develop solutions. Barry practiced Kaizen even before he knew what the term meant. Kaizen literally translates to “good change” or “continuous improvement” and is the foundation on which Barry has built his entire executive career. Barry began his career on a path that is rare among other business executives. Having earned his Bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley, Barry's goal was to use the multiple disciplines of his degree - history, politics, economics, and social studies, to compliment his natural extroverted personality to develop his skills as professional business administrator. Later in his career, Barry acquired his Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Southern California.
For his operational expertise, he is a five-time Toyota Kaizen Award recipient and recent two-time Toyota vendor of the year award winner. Beyond Barry’s business success, he is proud of his strong philanthropic background. These efforts have resulted in recognition as Big Brother of the Year and Reserve Police Officer of the Year.
Steven Katz, VP of Flying Lion, and president of Sky Ladder Drones, founded Sky Ladder Drones, a drone service provider, in 2016. Initially, focused on commercial operations supporting architecture, construction, and engineering market segments -- his passion for teaching found him partnering with Flying Lion, a drone service provider in the public safety and training segments. Steven helped develop an AUSVI award winning curriculum while instructing at two Los Angeles area community colleges, Santa Monica College and El Camino College. This comprehensive training provides FAA Part 107 exam preparation, UAV flight training with an emphasis on training military vets and overall job retraining.
Steven has also embraced the law enforcement side of the business. His public safety drone experience started with the deployment of Chula Vista PD’s DFR program in April 2020 and has continued to include being the liaison for Drone as First Responder (DFR) programs in Beverly Hills, Santa Monica and Montgomery County Maryland. Flying Lion supports other Public Safety agencies with FAA consulting, pilot staffing, on-demand drones, training and equipment leasing.
