Humans & wildlife conflict is a topic of growing concern in many towns in Massachusetts. Animal Control Officers more frequently have to answer and respond to calls about public health concerns regarding injured wildlife. Proper response to these calls as well as capture, handling, and safety techniques are generally not included in basic training. The purpose of this course is to educate. ACOs, as well as any other interested state agencies involved in wildlife rescue, about how to answer commonly asked questions by the public and proper protocols to use when capturing and transporting wildlife.
Some Topics to be Covered:
• State and Federal Regulations about working with wildlife
• Solutions for fielding public calls about common human- wildlife conflict
issues
• Safe capturing and transport techniques
• Rabies and Public health concerns
