Wildlife and Bushcraft Session

Would you like to get up close to the hidden wildlife of Hazel Hill Wood? Or learn how to light a fire without matches? Come and enjoy time in the woods and learn new skills.

We plan to do:

– Pond dipping

– Fire lighting

- Woodland games

Dress for the weather in clothes and sturdy shoes that you don't mind getting dirty. We highly recommend long trousers due to the presence of ticks in the wood - please click here for more info. Please check the weather forecast and wear waterproofs, warm layers, sun hat, sun protection and insect repellent as appropriate – if you’re not sure then bring it all! We will be outside for the duration of the session.

You are very welcome to arrive early and bring a picnic to enjoy in the wood before the session.

Ticket prices

General admission - £8 per person (adult or child).

Donation tickets - thanks to a grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, we are also able to offer donation tickets on a pay what you can basis.

Your money will support Hazel Hill Trust’s charitable work. Our vision for Hazel Hill Wood is a thriving ecosystem where people come to heal and learn through deeper connection with the living world.

FAQs

Is this suitable for everyone?

The session is suitable for most people over 5 years old. It is helpful for us to know if you have any mobility or medical conditions or other additional needs so we can plan accordingly - please let us know in the booking form.

Is this only fun for kids?

Definitely not! These activities are enjoyed by all ages.

Does everyone need to book a ticket?

Yes.

Do you take children without adults?

Not currently, though we may add this as an option in the future.

Will we go ahead if it's raining?

Yes! We will only cancel if there is a safety risk, e.g. very high winds. Please dress for the weather. We can use the Roundhouse for cover if necessary.

Can we spend longer at the wood?

Yes, you are welcome to be in the wood between 10am and 4pm on the day. We encourage you to bring a picnic to enjoy before your session :)
