About this Event
đź Wildflower Seed Balls: Planting for Pollinators
1.5 Hour Hands-On Workshop
In this interactive, hands-on workshop, participants will create their own wildflower seed balls designed to support bees and other important pollinators.
Together weâll explore:
- đ¸ Why pollinators like honey bees and native bees need diverse flowering plants
- đ How bees use pollen and nectar for survival
- đ The connection between flowering plants, food systems, and biodiversity
- đą How small planting actions can create meaningful habitat
Participants will mix clay, soil, and regionally appropriate wildflower seeds to form easy-to-plant seed balls that can be scattered in gardens. These little bundles of biodiversity protect seeds from birds and wind while giving them a healthy start once the rain arrives.
Weâll also discuss:
- The difference between honey bees and native bees
- Why continuous blooms from early spring to fall matter
- How urban and suburban spaces can become pollinator corridors
Each participant will leave with their handmade wildflower seed balls and the knowledge of how to plant and care for them to maximize impact.
*This program is best suited for kiddos 3-7 years. Children must attend with an adult. Adults do not need to pay.
