Wilderness HomeSkills is our homeschool program located on an 80-acre private property just 10 minutes south of downtown Mount Vernon and 20 minutes north of Arlington in Northwest Washington. Our program focuses on teaching students resiliency and hands-on skills through challenges, games, and nature study. Students will have the opportunity to learn from experienced mentors and engage in project-based learning throughout the day on the land.
During the program, students will delve into the fascinating world of primitive technology and wilderness living in all weather conditions by learning in the forest for one whole day a week. From crafting multi-cultural tools and art to learning survival skills, your child will gain invaluable knowledge and hands-on experience. Our curriculum teaches fire making, water purification, knife safety and carving techniques, primitive hunting techniques, plant identification, camp cooking, shelter-building, and navigation.
