July 13-16 | 8:00-11:00am This outdoor education class introduces students to foundational nature and wilderness skills through hands-on, guided activities in a structured learning environment. Students will explore the outdoors while learning how to observe, think critically, and better understand the natural world around them.
Throughout the course, students will practice age-appropriate skills such as map reading, basic navigation concepts, knot tying, shelter design principles, and environmental observation. Students will also study local flora and fauna, including animal tracks, scat identification, and wildlife patterns to better understand how animals interact with their environment.
Each lesson is designed to build confidence, problem-solving skills, and careful observation. Students will complete guided projects such as creating simple maps, practicing basic knots, studying nature clues, and designing model shelters using provided materials.
Students will also keep exploration journals to record observations, document findings, and strengthen attention to detail and scientific thinking.
This is a structured instructional outdoor education class focused on foundational wilderness skills and nature study through guided, hands-on learning.
