Under the aegis of IMF, Hanifl Centre, India’s leading institution for outdoor education and environmental study is conducting a Wilderness Advanced First Aid (WAFA) and Adult & Child Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course in association with Aerie Backcountry Medicine, Missoula, Montana, USA.
While “First Aid” is at the core of the course, “Wilderness” is defined as being an hour away from definitive medical care, which makes it relevant to most rural as well as urban settings. Hanifl Centre conducts WFA, WAFA, WFR and CPR courses in India. The course content for each course and Scope of Practice (SoP) for courses are regularly updated by Aerie under the umbrella of the Wilderness Medical Society (that sets standards in the US). In addition, Aerie collaborates and consults with WMI-NOLS and other providers of wilderness medicine training in the US to stay abreast of the latest research in this field. The curriculum being taught is evidence based and vetted on a regular basis. Aerie-Hanifl instructors are professional care providers with many years of outdoor leadership experience.
