Beginning at Bevendean Community Garden, walking over the fields to the back of Moulsecoomb, join us in a short guided walk and discover a very local part of the South Downs National Park.

Bevendean Community Garden - Moulsecoomb approx 1.7 miles
Starting location : Bevendean Community Garden, Heath Hill Ave, Brighton and Hove, Brighton BN2 4FH
Ending Location: Ashurst Road, Brighton. Option to get the 49 Bus leaving close by at Moulsecoomb Way (back to Bevendean and Brighton).
About this event
Join us for a rejuvenating walk in the picturesque countryside just on the doorstep of Moulsecoomb and Bevendean. Our adventure begins at one of Bevenden’s most beautiful gardens, before heading out into the surrounding woodlands.
Saturday 12th October 2024, 11am - 1.30pm
Please arrive at 10.45am to set off at 11am
Location and meet point:
Heath Hill Avenue, Brighton and Hove, BN2 4FH (Number 48 bus to Heath Hill avenue, on-street car parking available) What3words: spark.nests.verse
We will meet in Bevendean Community Garden. Turn left just after the bus stop opposite Bevendean Primary School. Walk a short way and cross over a metal vehicle gate. Turn left and the garden will be ahead of you. Walk into the garden through the gate. There is a compost toilet here.
While we will be moving at a medium - slow pace, please note that our route is likely to include uneven ground and a occasional sharp inclines, and is therefore not suitable for anyone using a wheelchair or with severe mobility issues. Please contact me as soon as possible if you have any concerns about this.
Duration
This Local Loop walk will takes around 1.5 hours, however as we will stop periodically to hear from local foraging guide the walk will take approximately 2 - 2.5 hours.
Weather
The event remains enjoyable even with a bit of rain. If we are experiencing torrential downpours, or very high winds the walk will be re-scheduled.

Your specialist Guide is Lead Forager Seb from Urban Forage
Seb is a former head chef who has turned his hand to foraging. He has become a lead forager and teacher with Urban Forage and has a true passion for teaching about using the world around you not only as food but resources, materials and remedy.
He is fungi mad and runs a sustainable farm growing lions mane mushrooms where they also hope to secure, protect and cultivate some of our native flora, fauna and fungi. www.urbanforage.me

Hannah
A trained forest school assistant, and trainee Forest Bathing guide. Hannah enjoys being with groups on outdoor adventures, and discovering more about our local landscape.

About Wild Walks East Brighton
Join us for a range of inspiring walks starting at Bevendean Community Garden!
Our Wild Walk events are four guided walks running from October 2024 - July 2025.
The walks are designed to be accessed very easily for people living in Moulsecoomb and Bevendean. The walks require no car. Each walk finishes near a bus stops where you can take a bus or two, to back to where we started.
The walks range from under 2 miles to just over 7miles. On each walk we will be accompanied by two gudies, a local wild spaces guide and a specialist in either; Artefacts, Crafting/living history and Archaeology, Foraging, materials & Remedys, Ritual & Folklore, or Natural Habitat.
Taking a guided walk to discover local routes that you may not know, or would like more information on. Join us to discover the beauty of the outdoors and learn about local wildlife. This in-person event is perfect for nature lovers of all ages. Don't miss out on this opportunity to connect with nature and explore the wonders in our local surroundings.
