What is the Shamanic Arts, and what do I teach?
Shamanism is a broad term used to describe earth-based spiritual traditions around the world. The traditions, rituals, ceremonies and teachings vary depending on the land and culture from which they come. Shamanism is the oldest tradition, is has been practiced by people all over the world, with evidence of it's practice dating back 30,000 years, though it was likely practiced before this.
Everyone has an ancestor who practiced shamanism in one way or another.
Shamanism belongs to all people.
Though there are many rituals and ceremonies that are specific to certain cultures and should only be performed if you have permission to do so from someone from that culture. Many ceremonies are cross-cultural and available to all people.
This is what I teach. Core Shamanism with threads of Peruvian Mountain Shamanism, which I have permission to teach from my teacher, her teacher, and her teacher's teachers.
The teachings of shamanism ultimately come from the land, the stars, and the light lineage. So they belong to no one. When you open yourself to the mystery school teachings, you will discover that they already live within you.
Shamanism is an art form; there is no right or wrong way to practice. It is heart lead, spirit lead and an act of sacred play.
What makes shamanism unique from other spiritual practices?
The shamanic arts guides one to commune with the land as the visible face of Spirit. The practitioner builds relationships with spirit allies, plant allies, animal guides, and power spots on the land to grow their medicine body and their source of power. The sacred law of shamanism is to live in ayni, to give back as much or more than you receive. This is right use of power, and it is essential to living in balance as a medicine person and beyond.

About Your Host:
Colleen Reid is a medicine woman, a creatrix, and a ceremonialist. She works through a shamanic lens, holding sacred circles for her human family to guide them to their wild and instinctual nature. She is the creatrix of SHE IS WILD FEST and Wild Wellness, an artist and a songstress. You can find her latest album, “Remember,” on all streaming platforms. Colleen teaches the Wheel of Life mentorship, an 8-month guided journey in cross-cultural shamanism. It is a life-changing experience in reclaiming your power and re-membering yourself into the collective landscape. Her work focuses on reconnecting the individual to themselves, the sacred rebel and divine within.
