About this Event
About:
Join us for our monthly volunteer work day every 4th Sunday of the month. This month we need help relocating our drop site (where all our SF restaurant shells are collected)! We will be moving about 10,000lbs of shell with the help of a truck and volunteers. This drop site will be the new location for our volunteers to drop off shells from SF restuarants.
Shell recycling is important step in restoring oyster populations that are at 1% of their historic levels. Oyster larvae are already free swimming in the water but they need something to attach to, and will always seek out oyster shells to attach to and grow! Oysters are critical because they filter water, enhance biodiversity and protect shorelines from erosion. Read more about us and our shell recycling program here!: wildoysters.org/shell-recycling
Come out and help our oysters!! 🦪🦪
