This is a peer support group, facilitated by doulas, for women who are planning to journey through pregnancy and birth on their own terms. You are welcome to this group if you are planning a future pregnancy, currently pregnant and planning your birth, or you’ve already experienced an autonomous birth and you’d like to share your story!
This group is a peer support group facilitated by doulas who believe that pregnancy and birth are normal bodily functions and that women are the experts on their own bodies. Your questions, fears, excitement and stories are all very welcome.
We meet in the community room inside the Eastlands Asda, Ashton New Rd, Manchester M11 4BD. The room is right at the back of the shop to the left of the pizza counter. Just knock on the door and we'll let you in. Come along for a brew, to meet others, be heard and to hear wonderful birth stories.
This group is unstructured to allow time and space for whatever women bring to the group and want to take from it.
The topic for this month is 'Make your ideal real', which means we can explore, discuss, and flesh out pregnancy, birth and postpartum plans, dreams and ideas.
What's your ideal pregnancy/birth/postpartum - what do you really want, in your heart of hearts?
What do you imagine when you close your eyes?
What, who, and where do you feel drawn to?
What is your intuition telling you?
How would you give birth if you could wave a magic wand and make it so?
And finally, is it possible? If not, why not? What are the obstacles? Could some aspects of it be incorporated?
This group is for women only (whether you're pregnant, planning to be pregnant, a mum already, a female birth partner/doula, or just a woman interested in this stuff) in order to provide a safe, private space. Male partners are welcome to our online group which falls on the second Sunday of every month.
